To believe that the 10 commandments were abolished simply because a new one was given is like believing that every time a new law is passed, a country must get rid of all its old laws. Or like parents who turn away all their older children simply because they had a new baby. This is neither logical nor necessary. This is how we are to love one another in Bethlehem. This implies at least two things. The first is that we set aside status, rank, prestige, and privilege and take the form of a servant—that`s what Philippians 2:7 says, and that`s what Jesus is doing here. Verse 14: “Therefore, if I, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you will also wash one another`s feet.” Because of my status, rank, and privilege as Lord and Teacher, I am not obligated to wash your feet. But I “consider you more important than me” and I serve you. The Samaritan Pentateuch varies in the passages of the Ten Commandments, both in the fact that the Samaritan Deuteronomic version is much closer to the Exodus passage, and in the fact that the Samaritans count as nine commandments what the others count as ten.

The Samaritan`s tenth commandment refers to the holiness of Mount Gerizim. 151. Say, “Come, I will recite what your Lord has forbidden you to do: 1 Connect with him in worship; 2And be kind (and devoted) to your parents; 3And don`t kill your children because of poverty – We provide food for you and for them; 4And do not approach Al-Fawahish (shameful sins, illegal sexual intercourse, adultery, etc.), whether committed openly or secretly, 5And do not kill anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause (according to the law). This is what He has commanded you, so that you may understand. For this reason, the new law is more difficult to live with than the old law. Although the Old Law contains many commandments, there was not in itself the grace to live them properly. Since the New Law gives this grace, it requires that what it commands and forbids be done by good inner intention. The man who acts according to the New Law must accomplish all the works he does from spontaneous joy and free inner love, born of the supernatural perspective of living according to the Holy Spirit. The inner distress required by the New Law can only be endured with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who sustains us with His presence and power. In this sense, the New Law is much more difficult to live with than the Old Law. And behold, some of them came and said to him, Good Master, what good shall I do to have eternal life? And he said to him, Why do you call me good? there is nothing good but one, even God; But if you go into life, keep the commandments. He said to her: Which ones? Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt bear false witness, thou shalt honor thy father and thy mother, and thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Now, before the Passover, when Jesus knew that His time had come to come out of this world to the Father, after loving His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. [Jesus` love for us will soon be demonstrated]. 4b He put aside his outer clothes, took a towel and tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples` feet and wipe them with the towel wrapped around him. It is not clear what exactly Paul means by the phrase “the law of Christ.” Although Paul mentions biblical law several times (e.g., Romans 2:12-16, 3:31; 7:12, 8:7-8, Galatians 5:3; Acts 24:14; 25:8) and preached on Ten Commandment topics such as idolatry (e.g., 1 Corinthians 5:11; 6:9-10, 10:7; 10:14; Galatians 5:19–21, Ephesians 5:5, Colossians 3:5, Acts 17:16–21; 19:23-41), he constantly denies that salvation or justification before God is based on “works of the law” (e.g., “works of the law” (e.g., “works of the law” (e.g., “works of the law” (e.g., “works of the law” (e.g., “works of the law”). And when we are sure that He will meet all our needs and be our treasure, we are liberated and empowered to humble ourselves and meet the needs of others. The New Law is called the law of love because it makes us act out of love imbued with the Holy Spirit and not out of fear; a law of grace, because it gives the power of grace to act by faith and the sacraments; a law of freedom, because it frees us from the ritual and legal observances of the Old Law, tends to us to act spontaneously by the inspiration of charity, and finally passes from the state of servant who “does not know what his master is doing” to that of friend of Christ – “For all that I have heard from my father, I have made it known to you” – or even to the status of son and heir (CCC n.1972). The kingdom of God is above all interior, and therefore all external actions that do not correspond to inner reconciliation with God are prohibited. Those who are indifferent to this inner peace have nothing to do with this law, for example food. All food is allowed under the new law and there are no ritual laws of purification or washing. The New Law is a law of freedom in two ways: (1) it does not require us to do or avoid anything other than what is necessary or contrary to salvation, and (2) it requires that we fulfill the commandments free from the inner emotion of grace.

The old law holds his hand. The New Law holds the heart and therefore also the hand. The basis of the first type of novelty (Jesus as a model) is found earlier in John 13. Look at what Jesus does at the very beginning of this chapter to give an example of what He means when He says, “As I have loved you, you shall love one another. John 13:1 ff.: According to a later tradition, the Last Supper took place in what is now called the Hall of the Last Supper on Mount Zion, just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, and is traditionally known as the Upper Chamber. [78] Since the late 20th century, with the growing awareness of the Jewish character of the early church and the improvement of Jewish-Christian relations, it has become common among some lay people to associate the Last Supper with the Passover Seder. [ref. needed] Some evangelical groups borrowed Seder customs, such as the Haggadahs, and incorporated them into new rituals designed to imitate the Last Supper; Similarly, many secularized Jews assume that the event was a Seder.

This identification is somewhat false because a Passover meal during the Second Temple period would involve eating a whole lamb.
