Judges usually hire from a mix of lower court judges. But it is interesting to see that Justice Alito has two employees of Justice Thomas Hardiman (3d Cir.), a fellow Conservative who sits on Justice Alito`s former court; Justice Kagan has two employees of Justice James Boasberg, D.D.C.; and Justice Gorsuch has two employees of Justice Frank Easterbrook (7th Cir.). Baird is the fifth Duke law graduate to work for Justice Alito and the eleventh to be selected for a law clerk position on the Supreme Court since 2010.
